Attorney Kevin D. Judd, founder of the Law Firm of Kevin D. Judd, a Washington, D.C. area bankruptcy boutique law firm, was sworn in as the 74th President of the National Bar Association (“NBA”).  Judd, who is known for his proactive and strategic leadership style, is poised to lead the oldest and largest national voluntary association of predominantly African-American legal professionals.  The NBA represents a network of over 66,000 lawyers, judges, educators and law students and has 84 affiliate chapters throughout the United States, Africa, Canada, the United Kingdom and the Caribbean.

“It is a tremendous honor to serve as president of an organization of this magnitude, one whose goal is to make huge differences in our country, by advocating for and focusing on laws that will economically empower our communities,” Judd said.

As president, Judd said he looks forward to improving the NBA’s internal operations, increasing membership and enhancing the organization’s national and international voice on significant legal matters affecting communities of African-Descent, such as economic justice, voting rights, human trafficking, decreasing juveniles in the criminal justice system, diversifying the nation’s jurists on the bench and preserving historically black universities and colleges.

Judd has developed a strong reputation for taking on huge organizational challenges head-on and eradicating them, while simultaneously building consensus among stakeholders. He is a past recipient of one of the NBA’s highest awards, the Ronald Harmon Brown Award of International Distinction and served as President of the Washington Bar Association; the National Howard University Law Alumni Association; the District of Columbia Chapter of the Federal Bar Association; and Grand Chief Justice of Sigma Delta Tau Legal Fraternity, Inc.

Judd is currently serving on the Local Rules Advisory Committee for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Columbia. He is member of the Bankruptcy Bar Association for the District of Maryland and a Member of the American Bar Association. Mr. Judd is an illustrious Fellow Member of the American Bar Association Foundation, a graduate of the Howard University School of Law and is licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia, the State of New York and in Maryland Federal Courts.  He is the proud father of a daughter, Jordan Sinclair Judd.
