The monks of Drepung Loseling Monastery spent a week in Los Angeles creating a mandala of compassion.

Nearly 100 religious leaders and members of the community gathered on June 14 for the opening ceremonies at St. John Episcopal Cathedral.  The weeklong events were presented for free to the public by The Guibord Center, a nonprofit organization which is dedicated to interfaith peacemaking.

“This is a time of great collective grief in our city — following the terrible tragedy in Orlando,” said Rev. Dr. Gwynne Guibord, founder and president of The Guibord Center.

“This series of events was our way of reaching out to the people of Los Angeles through the mandala of compassion, which is an expression of bringing people together in wisdom, beauty and diversity.”
