New Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church (NMC) will host the 2016 NMC Sunday School Workers Conference on Saturday, May 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., on the campus located at 402 E. El Segundo Blvd., in Los Angeles.

“This premier educational event has been designed to educate, equip, and empower pastors, ministry leaders, and lay leaders with tools to conduct Gospel-centered, interactive, and culturally relevant Christian education classes for all ages and stages,” said the Rev. Dr. Sonja R. Dawson, senior pastor.

“During this half-day conference, participants will receive training from our award-winning Sunday school teachers and administrators. The presenters of the workshops are currently serving in Sunday School Ministry, many with over twenty-five years of experience.”

Initially established under founding pastor, the Rev. Dr. Lonnie Dawson, Sunday School has been at the pinnacle of New Mt. Calvary’s growth and development over the course of its 53- year ministry. Now under the leadership of Pastor Dawson and Sunday School Superintendent Alene Riley, New Mt. Calvary continues to experience tremendous growth and wants to share resources and tips for success.

The conference theme is “Sunday School is Still Relevant.” Topics include Nursery, Pre-school, and Kindergarten Ministry; Children’s Ministry, Youth Ministry, Young Adult Ministry, Median Adult Ministry, Senior Adult Ministry, The Role of Pastors and Superintendents, Teaching Training and Development, Outreach and Promotion, and Special Events.

“In addition, we are excited to provide a special session for pastors and ministry leaders that will enrich and inspire participants in galvanizing your ministry teams.  This experience will allow you to engage in relevant and practical conversations with the senior leadership team on opportunities and challenges,” added Pastor Dawson.
