In about eight days, tax season for most working Americans will be coming to a close. For the stragglers, or as local business owner Dwayne Harrison Jr. calls them, the “end of seasoners”, the professionals at 1st Quality Tax Service in Inglewood are offering their help.

“We get continuous education as far as tax laws and regulations go,” Harrison Jr. explained to the Sentinel during a recent interview.

“There are new changes every year,” and they stay on top of those he said, so that they can ensure each of their customers get the best possible outcome when filing.

Harrison Jr.’s father Dwayne Harrison started first quality as a home based business in 1999. In 2004, it had expanded to the point, where having a storefront was inevitable. Their steady flow of business is not only attributed to the level of service, but to the competitive pricing as well.

Though charges are dependent upon a person’s tax situation, Harrison Jr., said they are always mindful of fair pricing. They also provide services like helping their customers file extensions, free of charge.

“A lot our customers [during the last minute rush] are filing extensions,” Harrison said.

April 15 is the last day to file one, to avoid penalties, whether they are on the money owed to the tax payer or on the money the tax payer owes to the IRS. An extension provides six months penalty free, he said.

The deadline this year, according to the IRS website, is Monday April 18. The IRS said it expects more than 70 percent of taxpayers to again receive tax refunds this year. Last year, the IRS issued 109 million refunds, with an average refund of $2,797, according to their website.

For its part, 1st Quality, is helping clients get as much out of their tax situation as they can, they said.
