The Greater Los Angeles African American Chamber of Commerce (GLAAACC) will honor distinguished leaders at its 23rd Annual Economic Awards Dinner. The dinner is GLAAACC’s signature event and will pay tribute to corporations, businesses and individuals that have made a positive and significant impact on the economic growth and development of minority businesses. The event will be held on March 17, 2016 at the JW Marriott Hotel at LA Live, 900 West Olympic Boulevard in Downtown Los Angeles. This year’s keynote speaker is Alejandra Castillo; National Director, MBDA US Department of Commerce.

Mayor Eric Garcetti will be on hand to present GLAAACC’s Chairman’s award to Deborah Flint, CEO of Los Angeles World Airports. Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas will present the GLAAACC Executive of the year award to Phillip Washington, CEO of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Inglewood Mayor, James T. Butts, will receive the highly coveted GLAAACC Public Service Award. Dr. William Burke; Chairman of South Coast Air Quality Management District, Michelle Avan; Southwest Division Administrative Manager at Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, Tracy Underwood, National Manager at Toyota and Sylvia Castillo, Vice President – Corporate Social Responsibility at MUFG Union Bank will receive Community Service awards for their contributions to the African American community. Byron Reed, Senior Vice President – Director of Community Development Group at Wells Fargo will receive the GLAAACC Special Recognition Award for his outstanding work nationwide for Wells Fargo.
