At a Special School Board meeting of the Inglewood Unified School District, Dr. Don Brann announced his resignation as the State Trustee.  No specific time line was provided for the effective date of his departure.  The Inglewood Unified School District was taken over by the State of California in September of 2012 and has struggled to repair the troubled District.  Dr. Brann is the third State appointed Trustee.

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson informed the Union that Dr. Brann would be making the statement at the School Board meeting.  The Union leadership will be meeting with the State Superintendent later this month to provide input to fill the position.

“As a major stakeholder in the outcome of the District, the Union requests a major role in the selection of the next State Trustee”, stated Christopher Graeber, Field Representative for the California Professional Employees.  “Our members work and live in Inglewood and we need to be heard regarding this process.”  Our members and the community felt the major impact when the last two Trustees made major cuts to the safety and cleanliness of the District.

The California Professional Employees, Local Union # 2345 is a local union of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades and affiliated with the AFL-CIO.  The Union represents non-profit, community based, social service employees throughout the state of California.
