The 19th Annual Taste of Soul Family Festival is less than 10 days away and excitement is building because Tiffany Haddish is the celebrity chair and Eric Benét headlines the Radio Free 102.3 KJLH Music Stage.

According to Danny J. Bakewell, Sr., TOS creator and founder, Haddish returns to the role for the second consecutive year to show her support for the Black community and the West Coast’s largest block party.

“Tiffany Haddish is not only a great actress, comedian and entertainer, she is also a resident of South L.A. and deeply committed to uplifting the people of this area through her nonprofit, She Ready Foundation,” said Bakewell.

Responding to Bakewell’s comments, Chris Malone, Radio Free 102.3 KJLH director of Programming, insisted,

“Radio Free 102.3 KJLH is ready to present another year of sensational soul at this year’s Taste of Soul! We are showcasing the best of local performers and nationally recording acts along with our radio personalities, who are certified cultural ambassadors in the city of Los Angeles.

Local favorite Durti Ryce Band will conclude the day with a special tribute to the late Frankie Beverly. In addition to a special appearance by award-winning singer Benét, L.A. Mayor Karen Bass will receive the KJLH Cultural Icon Award.  Other performers are Andra Day, Brent Jones, Koryn Hawthorne, and Lena Byrd Miles.  The lineup also includes Jon B , Devin Morrison, J. Brown, James Wright Chanel, Club Nouveau, and Ms. Black USA Dedra Tufon.

The 19th Annual Taste of Soul Family Festival takes place on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Crenshaw Blvd., from Obama Blvd. to Stocker Ave.  More than 300 vendors will participate and offer a range of cuisines, clothes, jewelry, health testing and screenings, and more.

Also, the Bakewell Media Stage and Brenda Marsh-Mitchell Gospel Stage will present free concerts featuring local and national recording artists.  Young people will be entertained and educated at Children’s World and adults seeking employment can learn about available jobs at the Los Angeles World Airports Pavilion and Los Angeles County Pavilion.
