From Po’Boys to Beignets, Creole Kings are cooking from the heart while creating an extraordinary, soulful experience in Sun Valley, CA. On October 19, during the Taste of Soul Family Festival, catch the Creole Kings on Crenshaw Blvd. serving traditional Louisiana flavors with love, care, and servitude. Owners Jeremiah and Sashay Kingdom are originally from Detroit and were inspired by their creole ancestry to start Creole Kings in September of 2023. The Kingdoms believe in creating special moments for their community by way of soul food.
Within a year, Creole Kings have been the number one vendor at Black on the Block and Hot Water Cornbread. They have garnered the attention of BET and provided food for the BET Experience over the summer. And although Jeremiah Kingdom is vegan, he believes in cooking and serving with love and intention. After pivoting from Po’Boy Brothers with his twin brother, Creole Kings has received unwavering support and was quickly embraced when they hit the streets.
“Our slogan is Let the Good Times Roll, when you eat with us you will definitely have a good time. One of the highlights has been being received and embraced by the community. We’re cooking the things we have always loved, good ole’ fried catfish, some gumbo, something good! That’s what we do in Detroit. Now a year later we’re here about to open our restaurant.” said Sashay Kingdom when asked about the Creole Kings experience.

“’Let the Good Times Roll’ is from the originator Sam Cooke. He is one of my favorite artists” shared Jeremiah. Guests at this year’s Taste of Soul can expect good energy and even better food from Creole Kings. “Welcome to Flavor Town! This is the epitome of New Orleans and Detroit coming together and having a beautiful marriage. Food is for the soul, and we acquire it when we eat it honestly, not based on taste, based on how it makes us feel.
“This is something people will walk away like ‘ah! I feel so much better since I had that food.’ It has a lot to do with the love that we put into it. It’s not about the money, it’s about the soul and about making people feel good. You’re not just coming to eat you’re coming to have a New Orleans experience. We let the good times roll. We’re on wheels right now and we’re opening a restaurant.”
The Kingdoms are expected to open their first restaurant next month in Thousand Oaks and launch their second food truck by the end of year. Jeremiah is also the Young Adults Pastor at Revelations Church and credits God for the vision to become excellent stewards, “without Christ, this is not possible.”
