Career night for Clippers rookie Brandon Boston dropped 27 points against the Boston Celtics. He’s been preparing for this moment. The coaches and players always acknowledge Boston’s work ethic, and this moment was destined to come.

Boston’s confidence showed early in the season when he talked about going hard at the guys’ practice and said he isn’t afraid of anyone.

Last week in the G-League Boston, he scored 46 points, and a week later, he had his big NBA moment. During the game, Boston was defended by Celtics guard Marcus Smart. He said, “I went at Marcus Smart. I just started going at him, letting him know I’m here. Letting him know my presence is felt and that I’m not laying back for nobody.”

After the game, guard Reggie Jackson showered Boston with love celebrating his success. Nic Batum noted that they will need games like that from him in the future.

“I like that kid. He needs to keep playing that way. We are going to need it. P.G. is out. Reggie needs the help.” Batum said he’s a good player. “It’s a challenge for him, and he’s going to be good. We are going to need it sometimes.”

The 20-year old ignited the crowd with a buzzer-beater at the end of the second half. After that shot, he knew it was a big night ahead. Rich Paul texted Boston at halftime, saying, “Keep going, kill, keep going. Make everybody pay.”

Head coach Tyronn Lue said he was excited at halftime. “I was telling him there’s another half to play, don’t get too excited.” With that said, Lue mentioned Brandon powered the Clippers to victory. The former Kentucky Wildcat took advantage of the opportunity to play big minutes while superstars Paul George and Kawhi Leonard were injured.

Boston dedicated this game to Terance Clarke, who recently passed away in a car accident. “I dedicated this game to him because he’s from Boston and wanted to play for them. So I went out there and carried this chip on my shoulder. His energy came with me all the way.”
