Endorsement from Esteemed Congresswoman is Latest Boost to Assemblymember Jones-Sawyer’s AD-59 Re-Election Campaign
LOS ANGELES, CA — In the latest powerful testament to his wide-ranging coalition of support from prominent local elected officials in his re-election campaign for Assembly District 59, today California State Assemblyman and Founder of the California Progressive Caucus Reggie Jones-Sawyer earned a highly-coveted endorsement from U.S. Congresswoman Maxine Waters.
In a statement released with the announced endorsement, Congresswoman Waters commented:
“Reggie Jones-Sawyer has been a consistent advocate for positive change that has real-life benefits for his constituents. Reggie has dedicated his professional life to serving his community, working to ensure more resources are available for students, seniors, small businesses, and working families. The tireless work Reggie has done in Sacramento during this pandemic has provided our clinics, businesses and first responders with vital funding and PPE to help them serve others in need. Let’s continue to move our communities forward by re-electing Reggie Jones-Sawyer to the State Assembly to further his work for the 59th District.”
Previously, Jones-Sawyer’s re-election campaign released his new television commercial, titled “Keep Working,” which highlights how as a former union organizer, Reggie knows the stakes for working families during this unprecedented time, which is why he has been at the forefront of delivering PPE to frontline workers and the most vulnerable.
Prior to being elected to the California State Assembly in 2012, Jones-Sawyer served as Director of Real Estate for the City of Los Angeles. Previously, he served as Chair of the California Legislative Black and CDP Chicano Latino Caucuses, as Secretary of the California Democratic Party, Assistant Deputy Mayor for the City of Los Angeles, as Chair of the Baldwin Hills Conservancy, Chair of the Los Angeles County Small Business Commission and as Los Angeles Professional Managers Association’s Vice President for SEIU’s Local 721.
