The Pacific Mount Olive Church of God in Christ (PMO) will celebrate 94 years of service to God and to the community on Sunday, May 21, at 3:30 p.m., in the main sanctuary located at 1385 East 21st Street in Los Angeles.
The keynote speaker will be Dr. Art Wooten, pastor of the Friendship Christian Fellowship COGIC in Riverside, CA. Dr. Wooten and Co-Pastor Jacqueline Wooten were members of the PMO church family during the pastorate of the late Supt. J. C. Brewster.
PMO was organized in 1923 in a house prayer meeting with Elder Johnny Robins named as the first pastor. Bishop Charles Harrison Mason, founder of the COGIC denomination, assigned Bishop E. B Stewart to lead the congregation and he served as pastor from 1931 to 1969. Brewster became the pastor in 1969 and headed the church for the next 30 years.
“The members of the PMO church are proud of the heritage of the great leaders that the Lord has provided,” said Supt. Milton L. Joyner, the current pastor.
“We extend a warm welcome to the public, former member, and friends to come and commemorate this historic celebration with us.”
