Heisman Winner Reggie Bush Makes Dodgers Ceremonial Pitch
Super XLIV champion and former USC standout running back Reggie Bush took the ceremonial first pitch on Friday when the Dodgers battled against the Cincinnati Reds. The honor comes in light of him getting his Heisman trophy reinstated.
USC Fires Alex Grinch, Defensive Coordinator
Alex Grinch, the USC defensive coordinator who came with head coach Lincoln Riley from Oklahoma, received his walking papers after less than two years. USC lost to the Washington Huskies after giving up 572 yards and 52 points on Saturday. Calls for the firing of Grinch flooded social media after the loss, including calls for his dismissal from former Trojan players.
USC Trojans Blow Chance to Upset Washington Huskies, Losing 52-42
On Saturday, one scene said it all at the end of USC’s loss (7-3, 5-2, Pac-12) to the Washington Huskies (9-0, 6-0 Pac-12). Trojan quarterback and reigning Heisman winner Caleb Williams found his mother in the stands and jumped into her arms, crying, as she hid his face from public view with a piece of paper.

Watching the Trojans lose to the Fighting Irish on Saturday 48-20 was hard. USC quarterback Caleb Williams threw three interceptions, each leading to a touchdown for the Irish.
Dorsey to Play King/Drew in High School Football Game at Memorial Coliseum
Dorsey will play King/Drew at the Coliseum on Friday, Oct. 27, in their final game of the regular season. Similar to the Roosevelt-Garfield East LA Classic game played last year at the Coliseum with a halftime performance by Will.I.Am and the Black Eyed Peas, this matchup deemed the South LA Classic will also have a special halftime performance headlined by Warren G and Xzibit.

The USC Trojans and the Stanford Cardinals have played one another since 1905; the Cardinals are the Trojans’ oldest rival. On Saturday, the Trojans played the Cardinals to open the 2023 Pac-12 season and play their final game as conference members.

Sophomore quarterback Caleb Williams arrived at USC earlier this year with the hope to make it into a winning program. Since then, he not only guided the Trojans into national prominence but made himself a front-runner for the 2022 Heisman Trophy.

The rivalry game between No. 16 UCLA Bruins and No. 7/6 USC will be a historic matchup as both teams have a Black starting quarterback. This is the first time in the history of the rivalry game that two Black quarterbacks—Caleb Williams of USC and Dorian Thompson-Robinson of UCLA—will battle against each other.

Although the California Golden Bears scored 21 points in the fourth quarter alone, the USC Trojans endured and secured a 41-35 victory. The matchup ignited a mutual sense of frustration among both teams.

Senior linebacker Shane Lee transferred to USC with the hope to help change the culture of their football team and bring them back into the national spotlight. Now, the Trojans are ranked seventh in the AP Top 25 College Football Poll with a 3-0 overall record.
