Comerica Bank Names Irvin Ashford, Jr., Chief Community Officer

Comerica Bank has named Irvin Ashford, Jr., its new Chief Community Officer. Ashford, will be responsible for community reinvestment nationally and all associated activities, including development, lending, community investments, volunteerism and data analysis. Additionally, he will lead Comerica’s diversity business resource groups. Ashford previously served as Comerica’s National Director of Financial Education and External Affairs and will maintain these responsibilities in his new role. Ashford will report directly into the Office of the Chairman.

Rosario Dawson Redefines Investigative Standard in NBC’s Modern-Day Murder Mystery ‘Briarpatch’

The anthology series’ has a literary origin written by Ross Thomas and features the leading role as a man, but “Briarpatch” program creator Andy Greenwald had other plans, imploring veteran actress Rosario Dawson to take reign as the lead in the NBC series. Referenced by the cast as a “modern-day murder mystery, Dawson stars as Allegra Dill, a seasoned criminal investigator who’s ready to face her fears and find out who killed her beloved sister. Returning to her roots in San Bonifacio, Texas, Dawson’s character is set to turn the town upside down with drilling truth and a unique twist of thrill, mystery, crime and pulp fiction.

Little, whom the FBI identified this month as the most prolific serial killer in U.S. history, produced startlingly detailed likenesses of dozens of women he says he strangled over the course of more than three decades. Now the FBI is publicizing his portraits— hoping that someone, somewhere, will recognize the face of a long-lost loved one in an image drawn by the killer himself.

The Human and Economic Toll of Gun Violence is Staggering

The September 18 state-by-state examination of the economic costs of gun violence, reveals numbers that the committee called “staggering.” For instance, in 2017, for the first time, the rate of firearm deaths exceeded the death rate by motor vehicle accidents. Nearly 40,000 people were killed in the United States by a gun in 2017, including approximately 2,500 school-age children – or more than 100 people per day and more than five children murdered each day. Sixty percent of gun deaths each year are firearm suicides, researchers said.

She has been commended for being personable and quick on her feet, absolute and aerodynamic even in the face of tough questions.
