Jaylen Hands was simply unconscionable when they needed him most. Oregon dominated the first 20 minutes of play and held a 16-point advantage, only before Hands began his herculean heroics at Pauley Pavilion.

Van Dykes fifth three-point basket of the game capped a 23-9 run in the final 2:45 of play and Utah went on to steal a 93-92 victory over UCLA on Saturday.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar sat along court side and cheered on his alma mater. The UCLA legend also took a photo with freshman 7-foot center Moses Brown, serving as an inspiration for the Bruins highly touted Five-star recruit. “That was my first-time meeting , I always wanted to meet him,” Brown said. “We had a lot of things in common. He told me to keep up the good work.” Abdul-Jabbar was honored at halftime with his several of his teammates from the 1969 championship team with a barrage of cheers. USC senior Aliyah Mazyck had a season-high 26 points, including five three-pointers, Minyon Moore added 12 points, 10 rebounds and six assists to give Southern California a 72-67 victory over crosstown rivals UCLA at Pauley Pavilion on Sunday.
The only thing surprising about UCLA’s announcement that Steve Alford was dismissed as the men’s basketball coach was how quickly it happened following the 73-58 loss at Pauley Pavilion to little known Liberty.
UCLA knew they needed a win as well to stay at the top of standings, but it took overtime and a barrage of three-point attempts to make it happen.
