The 8-week Blue Shield Promise Community Art Therapy program was held in collaboration with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Los Angeles, Challengers Clubhouseand Wellnest(formerly Los Angeles Child Guidance Clinic). The project helps local youth deal with everyday trauma they face by using their creativity to help design a mural based on their hopes and aspirations.

Jacobs, former events coordinator for NOMA’s southern California chapter (SoCal NOMA), it was about 12 years ago that the organization’s leaders decided that “they really needed to do something to bring the next generation into architecture and urban planning.” Thus was born Project Pipeline, a national initiative to introduce young people of color to the field. NOMA tasked its chapters across the country to organize camps with the purpose of educating youth on the basics of architecture.

A 29-year-old man pleaded not guilty today to a grand jury indictment charging him with the March 31 killing of Nipsey Hussle and the wounding of two other men in front of the rapper’s clothing store in South Los Angeles.
