Mothers In Action and Black Health Matters Host Mobile Screening Event

On Saturday, April 2, Mothers in Action partnered with Black Health Matters to provide mobile digital mammograms to the Los Angeles community. Screenings were distributed from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., on the back lot of the Los Angeles Sentinel office, located at 3800 Crenshaw Blvd., in Los Angeles. Mothers In Action, LA Urban League, Brotherhood Crusade, And FEMA Surpass 10,000 Vaccinations Along Crenshaw Corridor

The Johnson & Johnson vaccine is a one dose vaccination, so all 10,000 participants are now fully vaccinated.  Tracy Mitchell, president of Mothers in Action, said “I want to thank the Mothers In Action’s village of volunteers that have staffed the site from day one, and who have committed to continue supporting this effort until April 10, when the site closes.”

Governor Newsom Sets Date for 54th Assembly District Special Election

Heather Hutt said she made the decision to run for the Assembly instead of joining her former boss in Washington, D.C., out of a life-long love for her community and a dedication to serving and uplifting those in need.  “I grew up here, in Leimert Park. This is my neighborhood. Being in this community, I understand what’s important, what leadership looks like and what the changes and challenges are. When you love where you are and you love your community, you want to share that love in your work as well as in your personal life,” she said. 

Mothers In Action Celebrates Their 22nd Annual Back to School Health Fair

In memory of Mitchell’s late Mother, the founder of M.I.A., Brenda Marsh-Mitchell, they distribute their first 100 backpacks each year for the last 6 years to First AME Church for their foster care youth in honor of her passing and life of service.. “My Mother was the founder of Mother’s In Action, and she understood that children fail because they can’t hear, they can’t see, and don’t have the resources to have a successful school year. So she started this thing 22 years ago, said President Mitchell.”
