On August 13th, Mothers In Action will be hosting their 24th annual Back-To-School at Exposition Park (3998 Hoover St. Los Angeles, CA 90037).

To kick off the start of the school year, and ensure that every child in attendance is ready for the first day of school, MIA will be distributing over one-thousand backpacks to underserved youth between the ages of 5 – 18 years old.

PPE and hygiene items, socks, grocers, and valuable resource information (health, education, housing, mental health, job training and placement) will also be available during the event.

Some of the sponsors for the Back-To-School event include: LAHSA, DPSSCal Fresh, Mothers Nutritional, LA Sanitation, Bank of America, Children’s Dental Zone, and USC Asthma. Sandra Evers Manly, Vermont/Slauson EDC, and Community Build will be in attendance as sponsors, as well.

“MIA is dedicated to making sure underserved students, and their villages, have all they need to get back to school. For 24 years we’ve been working closely with the community to give any necessary services and support they should need,” shared MIA President, Tracy Mitchell.

Mitchell continued with, “we want to thank the community for all their help in providing resources, supplies, and donations to MIA for this event. It’s been such a blessing! We are so thankful for our village.”

Pre-registration is REQUIRED to attend Back-To-School. To register, please call (323)290-0456 or email MIA: [email protected]
