USC Hosts Annual Leslie & William McMorrow Neighborhood Academic Initiative Gala

For over three decades the University of Southern California (USC) has used its resources to streamline children and young adults into higher education. Nearly 1,000 6 – 12 grade scholars participate in their signature college prep program, the USC Leslie and William McMorrow Neighborhood Academic Initiative (NAI), with many advancing to become first-generation college students.

On Friday, April 28, the EmpowHer Institute hosted over 500 girls from 13 schools at their annual Girls to Greatness Teen Summit at the Los Angeles Convention Center. This year’s theme, Leaders Today. Changemakers Tomorrow., was a declaration of power encouraging the girls to step into their purpose with confidence and commitment.

EmpowHer Celebrates 20 Years in the Community

Deutsch LA Helps Create Dorsey High Hot Sauce

Dorsey high school is a place of education and growth, within the halls we see future innovators public servants, movers and shakers of the community. Elite branding agency, Deutsch LA collaborated with Dorsey High School to foster a new idea into a marketable product, the Dorsey Green Sauce. This was an eye-opening experience for students looking to get into businesses and marketing; they were able to exercise their creative process to deliver a fully developed brand.

On Thursday, March 30, local leaders, collaborators and elected officials joined in a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of Casa de Rosas, a newly renovated, award-winning, historic campus developed for formerly, homeless veterans.

USC Closes Education Gap with Neighborhood Academic Initiative

The University of Southern California (USC) is helping to increase and complete college enrollment for Black students with the USC Leslie and William McMorrow Neighborhood Academic Initiative (NAI). The NAI annually prepares more than 1,000 6th-12th grade students from low-income households in surrounding neighborhoods, in the south and east Los Angeles areas, for admission and graduation from college. Majority of USC NAI scholars will become first-generation college students.
