Metro Launches Ambassador Pilot Program

On Monday, March 6, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) announced 300, newly trained, Metro Ambassadors in preparation for the Metro Bus and Rail System. The program is now one of the largest of its kind in the country, and is one part of the agency’s multi-layered and reimagined approach to public safety.

The stars of NBC’s hit show, GRAND CREW, hosted an intimate premiere of the first episode of their second season for guest over the weekend at Black on The Block (BOTB) in Downtown Los Angeles. Screenings for Season 2 Episode 1 were held each hour between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. at L.A. Center Studios. BOTB is a monthly vendor event in L.A. designed to assist Black businesses and entrepreneurs grow their reach and gain exposure. 2023 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Festival in Leimert Park 

The moment you cross Degnan Blvd. in Los Angeles, you are quickly reminded of the rich culture and captivating spirit of Leimert Park. This year’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Festival was held on Saturday, February 25, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Regency West in the historical Leimert Park Village. Hosted by the office of L.A. City Councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson, friends and neighbors gathered to enjoy the community for music, food, art, activism, and the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King during the last weekend of Black History Month.

Alexis G. Philius Spreads Compassion Through Non-Profit Highly Favored: A Blessing to Others

Alexis G. Philius RN, is a bedside nurse who was motivated to make a difference in her community after observing a concerning amount of homeless people on her daily commutes to work. Los Angeles has the highest number of unhoused individuals with almost 42,000 people living on the street. Philius has dedicated the last 14 years of her professional life to helping individuals via the medical field but has now begun her journey as a community leader guiding, directing, and organizing volunteers to help balance out the disparities amongst the homeless.
