Charlie Wilson, Forever Young

Singer and songwriter Charlie Wilson continues to stand the test of time. The living legend’s career is like a fine wine, it only to get better with age. His career spans over 30 years, dating back to the days in the funk trio Gap Band. Wilson first made his name with a string of hits including “Outstanding,” “You Dropped A Bomb On Me,” “Yearning For Your Love,” Early In The Morning” and All of My Love.” The Group retired in 2010.

More than 700 people attended the 9th Annual African American Male Educational Network and Development (A2MEND) Summit that highlighted social justice and equity-minded approaches to student success for African-American men in community colleges. Presidents, administrators, faculty and students gathered to discuss strategies that directly impact the success of Black male students.

Melissa Harris-Perry discusses split with MSNBC on ‘The View’

Former MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry is far from quiet when talking about her recent departure from the cable network. Harris Perry’s departure was made public after an email from her to her “Nerdland” staff was released. In the email she wrote, “The purpose of this decision seems to be to provide cover MSNBC, not to provide voice for MHP Show. I will not be used as a tool for their purposes. I am not a token, mammy, or little brown bobble head.”

Woman regains Eyesight after 30 Years

Thirty years ago, Lisa Garrett, 53, was taking her son home from school when her life took a drastic turn.
“A gang was coming down the street and they just screamed out ‘West Side!’” Garrett said.
Then shots rang out and Garrett shielded her then 7-year-old son to keep him safe.
