Boyd to Retire as Pastor of First AME Church

After 52 years of spreading the Gospel of Christ, the Rev. J. Edgar Boyd will retire from the pastoral ministry.  To demonstrate love and appreciation for his outstanding tenure, the members of First AME Church – Los Angeles are planning a three-day celebration next month.

First AME Church Observes 150 years of Ministry, Mission and Message

First African Methodist Episcopal Church of Los Angeles is celebrating 150 years of ministry, mission, and message. The year-long celebration will continue through May 2023 and include various events and activities to commemorate the oldest Black Church established in the city of Los Angeles. “We invite the community to join us as we honor our heritage and celebrate the blessings bestowed upon us here at FAME,” said Pastor J. Joyous Celebration Salutes Life of Rev. G. Mansfield Collins

The Rev. G. Mansfield Collins made a huge footprint during his nearly 102 years of life. His impact was clearly apparent as hundreds filled the sanctuary of Bryant Temple AME Church to salute Collins’ legacy. During an uplifting memorial service on Oct. 10, Collins’ enduring love for God, family and community was celebrated through music, reflections and presentations.
