Iris Stanford worked in the Classified section department for the Sentinel for over two decades and over that time, she became the heart of a community. She served as the Classifieds Specialist for the Sentinel and L.A. Watts Times Newspaper. Anyone who did business, whether it was a DBA, an ad, or renting a room—you went to Iris. In many ways, she was the mother of the Sentinel office, checking you when needed, loving on you always and laughing with you all the time.

The event commemorates the birthday of Dr. King as well as recognizes outstanding contributors to the local community and the recipient of the RSCF youth scholarship.
The following are some of the activities that garnered attention in the Sentinel’s Religion section.
Donations of full, king and queen blankets along with pillows will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the church’s garage parking lot at 2040 West Jefferson Boulevard in Los Angeles.
The agenda will include worship services, business session and training workshops.

Taking on the challenge of chairmanship, Clyburn responded that he was ready to “direct our bipartisan oversight of the federal response to the COVID-19 crisis.” But contrary to the thoughts of some observers, he added that the concentration would be “forward looking,” as opposed to investigating the actions that led up to the crisis.
“The COVID-19 pandemic is changing our lives. We face a health crisis, an emerging economic crisis and more than ever, a crisis to our democracy. As we adapt to new norms to protect ourselves and our loved ones, we must adapt how we conduct our elections,” she wrote. Her wide range of recommendations included expanded online voter registration, multi-lingual voter education campaign, prepaid postage on ballots and applying Center for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines to polling locations.
The win was a big boost for Biden, who had already grabbed wins in 10 of the 14 states that voted on Super Tuesday on March 3.
Her performance has garnered more than 21,000 views on YouTube.
Authors and community leaders came to support the students by reading their own books and their favorite Dr. Seuss books.
