This momentous occasion celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Clean Water Act (CWA) which became law on October 18, 1972.
An independent watchdog in the Environmental Protection Agency said on Tuesday, Sept. 13, that it’s being brought in to investigate the troubled water system in Mississippi’s capital city.
At its core, we support Measure W because of its impact on empowering African-Americans and other communities of color in Los Angeles County – making business pay their fair share for the clean water that Black and brown residents are most likely, otherwise, to be deprived of. Measure W is a progressive tax that spreads the compliance burden equally with no groups paying more than their fair share.
Paraphrasing a well-known comment by Dr. King, “Environmental injustice anywhere, is a threat to clean air everywhere.
