The Inglewood boys improved to a 22-6 overall record after their victory. Sentinel senior Parker Jefferson was named Max Preps Player of the Game for scoring 38 points and 10 rebounds.
Serra freshman Kaicia Snelson had a strong campaign for the Cavaliers girls’ basketball team, scoring 12.9 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. Along with being a basketball player, Snelson is ASB vice president of her freshman class.
Serra senior Devin Shell helped the Cavaliers go on a deep run in the CIF Division 3AA Southern Section Playoffs and reach the Division II State Playoffs. They ultimately had a 19-15 overall record and a 4-6 Del Rey League record.
The St. Monica Mariners girls basketball team defeated the Serra Cavaliers 46-24. The Mariners now have a 15-9 overall record, the Cavaliers are now at 9-5 overall.
Serra freshman Kody Gaines will start his high school career in baseball this spring. He also played on the football team this past season.
The bright lights of the last Pac-12 Championship game between the No. 5 Oregon Ducks vs the No. 3 Washington Huskies in Las Vegas was the one of many big stages that true freshman Rodrick Pleasant has been on.
The Serra Cavaliers rallied late but were unable to outlast the Servite Friars 20-28. The Cavaliers scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter in an attempt to come back from a 22-point deficit.
After his run with the St John Bosco Braves football team, freshman offensive lineman Earnest Greene III signed with the University of Georgia Bulldogs. He chose Georgia because he wanted to cultivate his skills while competing on a high level.
Recent Inglewood graduate Kenyon Agurs is heading to Colorado State University to contribute to their football team in the fall. Agurs was named “Mr. Inglewood” after competing in basketball, football, and track and field during his high school career.
The Los Angeles Chargers partnered with the L.A. Legends sports organization to host their inaugural girls’ flag football college showcase at Serra high school. Members of the L.A. Legends helped facilitate drills and exercises.
The Los Angeles Romans football team survived a late rally by the Morningside Monarchs to secure a 28-26 victory at Caroline Coleman Stadium in Inglewood.
Strong batting and pitching helped the Serra Cavaliers baseball team secure a 10-6 victory over the La Salle Lancers. The Cavaliers survived the Lancers’ competitive resurgence in later innings; with the win, Serra had a 10-2 overall record and a 15-5 Del Ray league record on April 13.
For the first time in 16 years, the Morningside girls’ basketball team earned a playoff berth. Their 13-4 overall record made the Monarchs a contending team in the Ocean League.
The Inglewood Sentinels football team are currently ranked 23rd in California and has a 6-0 overall record. Last Friday, the Sentinels shut out the Hawthorne Cougars 59-0 for their homecoming game.
