Tony Award®-nominated playwright, actress, and activist Danai Gurira, one of the most brilliant voices in theater today, has teamed up with two-time Tony Award-winning director Stephen Daldry, and two-time Pulitzer Prize® winner Lynn Nottage to present a very special event to get out the vote – Act Out: Vote2020, a series of short, all new monologues and songs that will make up an hour-long video encouraging audiences to vote in the upcoming elections. Los Angeles Nonprofits Receive Over $1 Million in Economic Development Grants from Bank of America to Stimulate Business and Neighborhood Revitalization

Bank of America announced $1,124,000 in economic development grants given to 52 nonprofits that help stimulate local business and neighborhood revitalization in communities across Los Angeles. Nonprofits receiving the funds provide services ranging from affordable housing and community development resources to small business support and arts and culture programs that stimulate the local economy.

Center Theatre Group to Present Workforce Readiness Symposium: A Free Event on Saturday, September 22 Hosted by East Los Angeles College

Center Theatre Group invites representatives from the Southern California higher education community to attend the free Workforce Readiness Symposium on Saturday, September 22, at East Los Angeles College from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Workforce Symposium is a daylong event for members of the higher education community who work with students studying theatre to connect with colleagues, learn more about hiring challenges and needs in the field and develop a collaborative framework for how best to prepare theatre students to go from college to working in their desired career pathway.

“Ain’t Too Proud – The Life and Times of the Temptations” Comes to Los Angeles

Center Theatre Group presents a musical about the Motown singing group, the Temptations here in Los Angeles before heading to Broadway in the Spring. “Ain’t Too Proud,” a musical about the life and times of the iconic singing group the Temptations, will be playing in downtown Los Angeles at the Ahmanson Theatre until Sunday, Sept. 30.   The musical takes us from the very beginning when Otis Williams was just a teenager in Detroit, trying to find the right sound and most importantly, the right group.
