On October 7, the 12th Annual Compton Walk for a Cure was held at Centennial High School. According to event co-founder Satra Zurita, “The walk was an opportunity for the community to come together to unite and raise awareness about breast cancer.”

Centennial high school recent graduate Andrew Munns played for the Apaches baseball team during his senior year. In school and on the baseball field Centennial High School senior Edward Macon is aiming for the bleachers. Although the college-bound Apaches shortstop and centerfielder has athletic talent, earning a degree in business with a minor in economics is his top priority. So far Edward, who previously attended King Elementary and Willowbrook Middle School, has been offered an academic scholarship to Alabama A&M University and an athletic scholarship to California Miramar University.
