Kimberly Shiner, the associate vice president for University Development at Cal State San Bernardino, has been appointed vice president for the executive board of Leadership California, a non-partisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing the representation and influence of diverse women leaders across the state of California.

Bill to “Save Local Journalism” Awaiting Gov. Newsom’s Signature

With a 69-4 vote, the Senate passed Assembly Bill (AB) 323 Tuesday. It proposes granting ethnic media outlets, mid-size publications, and daily newspapers an additional year to pursue alternative and sustainable distribution models that don’t involve contract drivers. That would allow them to come into compliance with the state’s controversial AB 5 labor law.

Smith was regularly in my life. In my eyes, he was a hero and no man could compare to him. Dr. Whalen Jones marks 106th birthday

More than a century of living has not slowed down the Rev. Dr. Whalen Samuel Jones, who celebrated his 106th birthday on June 7. The handsome centenarian still speaks with godly wisdom, attends church on a regular basis, and shares his time and talents as pastor emeritus of Messiah Baptist Church in Los Angeles, the congregation he founded in 1954.
