The California Jazz & Blues Museum presents the 2nd Annual Barbara Morrison Jazz & Blues Festival on Saturday, September 9 from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The event will take place at Barbara Morrison Square at the intersection of 43rd Street and Degnan Boulevard. Featured performers include Klymaxx, Dwight Trible, Eloise Laws, Debra Laws, The Son of Muddy Waters with Big Bill Morganfield, Victor Orlando, Fernando Pullum with the P.A.C. Senior Jazz Band, and The Barbara Morrison Band, originally known as The Bu Crew Band. James Janisse and Jay Jackson will host the event.
The California Jazz Foundation will present its 11th annual “Give the Band a Hand” gala fundraiser at the Omni Los Angeles Hotel on Saturday, April 8, at 5:30 p.m. The event honors the best of the jazz community while raising money to provide support to California’s jazz musicians in financial or medical need.
More than 300 community members attended the ceremony to honor Barbara Morrison, the legendary “Empress of Blues and Jazz”.

Barbara Morrison Performing Arts Center presents the free “Inspired Sound Concert Series” every Saturday at 8 p.m., at 4305 Degnan Blvd., Suite 101, in the Leimert Park district of Los Angeles.
Barbara Morrison’s 6 Nights of New Year’s Eve will make two stops at Los Angeles venues and be available to stream online until Friday.
The first three shows, presented by the California Jazz & Blues Museum and Barbara Morrison Performing Arts Center, are at The Barbara Morrison Performing Arts Center, 4305 Degnan Blvd., No. 101, Los Angeles, and started on Sunday.

Guests enjoyed lunch as they listened to music by Kirk Wilson & Underwater Traffic, Fernando Pullum’s Performing Arts Center, the Chosen Recovery Group Singers and jazz legend Barbara Morrison. Comedian Lester Barrie served as the emcee. According to Pastor John Cager III, “Our missionaries understand that jazz, like the African-American church, is something God gave to us to enjoy and we really appreciate the hard work that they put into making this event a fabulous success.”
