COVID-19 cases have decreased nationally among healthcare workers from 257 at the beginning of October to 166 towards the end of the month. Out of the more recent cases, 78 cases were reported among vaccinated healthcare workers and 88 among unvaccinated workers.
Los Angeles County’s number of COVID-19-positive hospital patients held mostly steady according to the latest data, increasing by one, while the county reported just five new virus-related deaths. Numbers of new fatalities and COVID infections tend to be low on Mondays due to delays in reporting from the weekend. The five new COVID deaths reported Monday gave the county an overall death toll of 26,018. The county reported another 986 cases, for a pandemic total of 1,455,155.

The self-certified training program starts with watching a video, then one would complete a brief survey after the training visual, lastly the business would receive an emailed certificate. This is operated by the Los Angeles County Health Department. The program is completely voluntary, but it is put in place to prevent the spread of coronavirus among guest and staff.

Solis introduced a motion that passed on Tuesday; the Department of Health Services will lease medical space to respond to health issues in south east Los Angeles. At this new health center there will be primary care providers, nurses, case managers, case navigators, and other caring personnel to provide health services during COVID-19 and after the pandemic.
