West Point Cadets Educate LAUSD Students

The United States Military Academy West Point cadets traveled to Los Angeles to host their annual Leadership and Ethics in STEM Workshop on Friday. The Diversity, Inclusion, and Equal Opportunity department at West Point partnered with LAUSD to host the event at Stephen M. White middle school.

2018 Women’s Veterans Summer Event

On August 24th, the LA County Department of Military & Veterans Affairs (MVA) will present a day focusing on how female vets can successfully complete their educational goals. Speakers and attendees will discuss issues faced when returning to school, including financial obligations, childcare, and how to successfully balance family, work and school.

Famed African American Buffalo Soldiers of the U.S. Armed Forces

Honored by the State Senate at a Capitol Ceremony & Reception Sacramento – To celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Buffalo Soldiers, an historic group of African American service members, Senator Tony Mendoza (D-Artesia) and Senator Isadore Hall III (D–Compton), Chair of the Legislative Black Caucus, hosted a reception in the State Capitol and presented Senate Concurrent Resolution 128. “I am honored to recognize the great accomplishments and service of the Buffalo Soldiers. These men made history by breaking barriers and serving our country with honor and distinction during war and peacetime under tremendously challenging circumstances,” said Senator Tony Mendoza.

Services Scheduled for Henry ‘Hank’ Clark, Jr.,

He was an entrepreneur and among the first African-American McDonald’s franchise owners in Los Angeles Observances are scheduled this week for Henry Clark, Jr., who in 1969 became one of the first African-Americans to own and operate a McDonald’s franchise in the Los Angeles Crenshaw District. Clark passed away on November 10 in his Pasadena home. He was 85. More affectionately known to those close to him as “Hank,” Clark was born to parents Henry S. Clark Sr. and Laura Pike Clark in Oakland, California on August 13, 1930. He grew up the eldest of two children. After graduation from
