Community Members Vote on Service Proposals for Massive City Funding 

The Los Angeles Civil Rights Department of the City of LA hosted a Proposer Fair on March 23 at Fire Station 54 on Crenshaw Blvd to offer residents and stakeholders in the West Adams-Baldwin Village-Leimert Park communities an opportunity to vote on which non-profit service proposals the City should fund for their zone.

After years of complaints from residents in unincorporated communities about the lack of parking enforcement, Supervisor Holly Mitchell successfully presented and passed a motion of support from the Board of Supervisors to transfer parking enforcement from the civilian officers to the Department of Public Works Transportation Services Division.

In a move towards easing the financial burden on working families, Vice President Kamala Harris unveiled a comprehensive set of measures to lower childcare costs and provide crucial support for early educators. The White House noted in a Fact Sheet that the initiative aligns closely with President Biden’s historic Executive Order on Care. The White House said the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) finalized a rule that bolsters the Childcare & Development Block Grant (CCDBG) program, a cornerstone for childcare assistance benefiting over a million families monthly.
