Marijuana delivery service Speed Weed will halt operations in the city of Los Angeles starting next month under an agreement secured by the City Attorney’s Office.
Cosmic Mind, the company behind Speed Weed, will need to shut down in the city on June 6, under the court-enforced agreement between city attorneys and the company.
The agreement follows a lawsuit filed by City Attorney Mike Feuer’s office in February that alleged the company does not have immunity from Proposition D, which banned all but about 100 marijuana businesses in the city.
City attorneys allege that Speed Weed has taken phone and online marijuana orders since at least July 2014, making deliveries from seven delivery centers around the Los Angeles area.
The company cannot get around Proposition D by running the businesses out of vehicles, and any such delivery centers in the city would be prohibited, city attorneys said.
