Hundreds of hungry South L.A. eaters crammed into Nashville’s legendary Hotville Chicken, at their grand openingof their new West Coast location inthe Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Mall, on Tuesday, December 17.

For years, the restaurant has been the rave of Nashville because of Hotville Chicken  and chef/owner Kim Prince, who comes from a lineage of restaurateurs. Prince has partnered with Greg Dulan, owner of Dulan’s Soul Food Kitchen.  Between the two of them, their families have been in the restaurant business for over 127 years. Dulan’s dad started with Hamburger City on MLK, Jr.  Blvd. in 1975 and Prince says her family started their first restaurant in 1936.

Fried chicken wings, breast, and leg quarters are served with five heat temperatures, including West Coast Plain (no heat), Cali Mild, Music City Medium, Nashville Hot and an even hotter, yet-to-be-named level. For the spicy and hot food eater, the Nashville Hot is extremely and tamed the Sentinel staff, so be warned – it is hot!  They also serve Mac and Smokin’ Cheese, Kaleslaw, BBQ Baked Beans Trio, Endless Buckets of Pickles and Bread, and for dessert, Key Lime Pie and Pound Cake.

Councilmember Marqueece Harris-Dawson came to support the event and sample the food, but not before recognizing both Dulan and Prince with proclamations for their entrepreneurial accomplishment and for improving the community through their business.
