Back by popular demand for the fifth consecutive year, the Debbie Allen Dance Academy and the Annenberg Foundation present the modern holiday classic and three-time Nutty Award-winning, “The Hot Chocolate Nutcracker” at UCLA’s Royce Hall from Friday, December 12 through Sunday, December 14.

Following the original “Nutcracker” story, Christmas Eve finds young Kara and her family hosting a grand party.  She receives the gift of a magical Nutcracker filled with hot chocolate – her favorite.  As she drifts off to a happy sleep, her fantastic journey begins when the Nutcracker comes alive!  Together, Kara and the Nutcracker explore many lands of wonder:  a hip hop Candy Cane Lane, mystical Egypt, exotic Bollywood, a dazzling Jazzland and a new South Pole surprise. Their adventure is guided by three wisecracking mice:  Harvey, Schmink and Buckey.

Written and directed by Debbie Allen, the production features dazzling performances by the Debbie Allen Dance Academy students and ensemble, along with an original musical score featuring contributions from Mariah Carey, Arturo Sandoval, Chau-Giang Thi Nguyen, James Ingram and Thump.

Performances are Friday, December 12t at 8:00pm; Saturday, December 13 at 1:00pm and 7:00pm; and Sunday, December 14 at 2:00pm.  Tickets are available at Ticketmaster and at the UCLA Box Office (310-825-2101).
