In a powerful display of faith and generosity, the Covenant Connection Churches of Southern California, under the leadership of Pastor Xavier L. Thompson, raised over $50,000 to support families who lost their homes and pastors who lost their churches in the recent Los Angeles County wildfires.

The funds were collected during the Night of Hope service held at Southern Missionary Baptist Church where pastors and congregations from across the city gathered in solidarity to provide relief and restoration.

Dr. Claybon Lea, senior pastor of Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Fairfield, delivered a stirring message that encouraged resilience and unity in the face of devastation. His sermon reminded attendees that even in moments of loss, faith remains an unshakable foundation.

“Hope is not just a concept—it’s a call to action,” Dr. Lea declared, urging the church community to be the hands and feet of Christ in times of crisis. The service reached its most powerful moment when, at the close of Dr. Lea’s sermon, one person came forward and gave their life to Christ, a reminder that even in hardship, God is still moving.

Pastors from all across Los Angeles stood together in support, demonstrating the strength of the faith community when united for a common cause.

“This is what the church is called to do,” said Pastor Xavier L. Thompson. “We don’t just preach hope — we practice it. Tonight, we showed that when the church moves in unity, we can make a tangible impact in people’s lives.”

The funds raised will go directly toward assisting displaced families and helping pastors rebuild their congregations after the fires. As the community continues to recover, the Covenant Connection Churches reaffirmed their commitment to not only offering spiritual support but also meeting the physical and financial needs of those affected.

The Night of Hope was more than a service — it was a testament to the unwavering compassion and resilience of the Los Angeles faith community.
