Excelling in a variety of incidents has helped LAFD chalk-up impressive statistics in preserving life and property and promoting public safety.  Last year, the department answered to 382,128 emergency medical calls, 4,024 structural fires and 66,674 additional incidents.  Response times to all calls occurred in less than seven minutes, which many consider a significant feat in light of L.A.’s congested streets.

U.S. SMALL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION ANNOUNCES DISASTER DECLARATION FOR LOS ANGELES COUNTY

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has issued a disaster declaration for Los Angeles County that will make low-interest federal disaster loans available to businesses and residents impacted by the Woolsey Fire announced SBA Administrator Linda McMahon. This SBA disaster declaration covers Los Angeles, Butte and Ventura counties as a result of the wildfires that began in California this month.

HHS Secretary Azar declares Public Health Emergency in California due to Wildfires

“We are working closely with state health authorities and monitoring the needs of healthcare facilities to provide whatever they may need to save lives and protect health,” Secretary Azar said. “This declaration will help ensure that Americans who are threatened by these dangerous wildfires and who rely on Medicare, Medicaid, and the Children’s Health Insurance Program have continuous access to the care they need.”

BOE Member Horton Sponsors ACA 24 (Waldron) To Expand Disaster Relief  for Property Taxpayers

Assembly Member Marie Waldron, 75th District, recently announced that she is authoring ACA 24 to provide relief for the property owners that were affected by the devastating wildfires last year, and the mudslides that followed. Jerome E. Horton, 3rd District Board Member of the State Board of Equalization is the primary sponsor of the measure.
