Several churches, mosques, synagogues, and other ministries in Altadena and Pasadena were impacted by the Eaton fire. According to Bishop Francine Brookins, Presiding Prelate of the Fifth Episcopal District of the AME Church, members and buildings of the denomination were affected.

The Christian Recorder, the denomination’s newspaper, reported that “Rev. Al Washington, an associate minister at First AME Church of Los Angeles, lost his wife and their home.”  The homes were destroyed of more than 54 members of the AME Church with 49 of those being members of First AME of Pasadena where the Rev. Dr. Larry E. Campbell serves as the senior pastor.

The edifices suffering damage are First AME of Pasadena, Brown Memorial AME in Pasadena, Bethel AME in Monrovia, First AME Val Verde in Castaic, and St. John Holy Trinity AME in Sun Village.

As first reported by L.A. Focus newspaper, at least nine additional churches were destroyed “including Hillside Tabernacle City of Faith COGIC, Abounding Grace Ministries, St. Andrews Catholic Church, Lifeline Church, Altadena Baptist Church, and St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.”
