Explaining God to youngsters is made easier with “I Am God,” a new book by L.A. author Crystal Chante.

The beautifully illustrated children’s book shares the story of Abigail and her quest to learn where she comes from. She finds the answer by attending Sunday school where she learns about God the Creator as well as His love, power and divine nature.

“I wrote “I Am God” so youth can know that He exists and that our God desires a relationship with each and every one of us,” shared Chante.

“Questions about our existence, our relationship with God and His love for us are demonstrated throughout the story,” said the Los Angeles native.

While the book is her first publication, Chante actually has done other creative writings. As a student at her alma mater, Mississippi Valley State University, she composed and edited articles for the school’s paper, Delta Devils Gazette.

Chante also wrote, produced and directed her first play, “The Right Choice ” as an undergrad. In addition, she produced a short film, “More Than Skin,” as a graduate student at Arkansas State University, which received an honorable mention from the National Broadcasting Society in 2013.

The launch for “I Am God” attracted scores of parents and children on Dec. 16 at the Word of Life Christian Bookstore. Joined by illustrator Marco Bernard, Chante discussed the importance of the narrative and signed several copies of the book.

Her future includes publishing more books for youth, said Chante, who added, “I have a couple of young adult novels coming out as well. With all of my works, my audience will be young children and young adults.”

Crystal Chante is available to visit churches, schools and community activities to share her works. Contact her at [email protected]. Obtain a copy of “I Am God” at Word of Life Christian Bookstores, 6321 West Blvd. or 7223 S. Main St., both in Los Angeles, or visit crystalchante.com or Amazon.com.
