Bishop Stafford J.N. Wicker and the Rev. Dr. Constance Wicker were special guests at Brookins-Kirkland Community AME Church on June 18.   The Wickers are the presiding prelate and the supervisor of missions of the 18th Episcopal District of the AME Church.

After leading the choir and musicians in a rousing rendition of “Certainly Lord,” Wicker preached a dynamic Father’s Day sermon on the topic, “Stay With Who You Know,” based on John 14:6.

Among the life-application points he shared were (1) We need to know the wisdom of God and the works of God, (2) Wisdom is a gift to me from God, (3) Blessings come in spite of my behavior (4) God’s wisdom teaches me to love myself, (5) If i’m willing, God is ready, and (6) God has a will for my life – make Him look good every day.

Brookins-Kirkland Community AME Church is located at 3719 W. Slauson Avenue in Los Angeles.  The Rev. Dr. Mary S. Minor is the senior pastor.
