Brotherhood Crusade received a $150,000 donation from the Airbnb Community Fund, which includes $100,000 towards the Brotherhood Crusade Wildfire Relief Fund to assist the residences and businesses destroyed in Altadena and Pasadena due to the Eaton fires and $50,000 towards youth and workforce development in Los Angeles.

The Airbnb Community Fund donation directly supports Brotherhood Crusade’s work to provide essential resources for low-income and underserved communities in Los Angeles such as the Community Food Distribution Event in partnership with Councilmember Heather Hutt that took place last week.

Launched in 2020, the Airbnb Community Fund is a $100 million initiative to directly support local communities, including by donating to organizations making a difference in the places that hosts on Airbnb call home.

This donation builds on Airbnb’s ongoing support for the Los Angeles community. In addition to the more than $200,000 donated to Los Angeles organizations through the Community Fund since 2021, Airbnb.org and Airbnb quickly acted after the devastating wildfires began to offer free, emergency housing to those who lost their homes or were forced to evacuate. To date, Airbnb and Airbnb.org have committed $26 million toward emergency housing efforts in Los Angeles and have helped house over 18,000 people impacted by the wildfires.

“Brotherhood Crusade is incredibly grateful for Airbnb’s continued support and commitment to Los Angeles. We are thrilled to be a recipient of this year’s Airbnb Community Fund grants,” said Charisse Bremond, Brotherhood Crusade CEO.

“For over 50 years, we’ve been dedicated to improving the quality of life for Angelenos and working to meet the needs of low-income and underserved communities, including those that have suffered devastating losses to the wildfires. The Airbnb Community Fund donation will directly support our work and help provide immediate assistance to those that need it most.”

“Airbnb committed to providing free temporary housing for Angelenos impacted by the devastating wildfires and remains committed to supporting the city through recovery. Empowering those most in need is a critical issue for Airbnb and our global host community, said Airbnb Community Programs Director Janaye Ingram.

“We are proud supporters of Brotherhood Crusade’s essential work to assist Eaton fire victims and low-income communities in Los Angeles and are pleased to continue aiding them through the Airbnb Community Fund.”

Airbnb aims for the Community Fund to have a meaningful impact where it’s needed most and partners with local hosts to identify important issues in their communities and many of the non-profit organizations to receive donations. This year’s Airbnb Community Fund grants were directed to organizations focused on three issue areas identified by the Airbnb Host Advisory Board as important to the global host community: economic empowerment, environmental sustainability, and ending abuse and exploitation.

The Brotherhood Crusade Wildfire Relief Fund was created in partnership with the LA Sentinel to assist the residences and businesses destroyed in Altadena and Pasadena due to the Eaton fires and aims to solicit donations over the next two years to help the communities recover.

Donations to the Brotherhood Crusade Wildfire Relief Fund will directly support wildfire relief and recovery efforts with food, transportation, clean water, medicine, and emergency shelter to affected individuals and businesses. The fund will also assist longer-term recovery efforts run by local, vetted organizations in the impacted areas, particularly groups that have been working and serving the residents of Altadena.
