Kim Kimble will be a special guest at the 10th annual Taste of Soul Beauty Pavillion.
Kimble, a third-generation hair stylist who started as a shampoo girl for her mother at the family salon in Los Angeles.
She was trained at the Universal College of Beauty of Los Angeles in Leimert Park, Culver City College of Beauty.
She also received a formal hair care education at both Vidal Sassoon Academy and Dudley Cosmetology University in North Carolina.
In 1995, Kimble opened her first salon, Phaze II, in Los Angeles. Her work on “B*A*P*S”, starring Halle Berry, led to more jobs in the TV and film industry where she worked on “The Parenthood”, “The Jamie Foxx Show”, with Brandy on “Moesha” and the TV movie “Cinderella” as well as with Beyoncé on “Austin Powers: Goldmember”.
To date, Kimble is the primary stylist on all of Beyoncé’s movie, television and music projects in addition to working with celebrities like Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Shakira, Mary J. Blige, and even the iconic Miss Piggy.
Some recent highlights include doing Beyonce’s hair for the 2013 Super Bowl, and Shakira’s hair for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Kim has also worked with up-and-coming stars like Zendaya and Iggy Azalea.
In 2000, Kim opened her second salon, Epiphany Hair Studio in West Hollywood, California and launched Kimble Beauty™, a full range hair care line designed to address the needs of women of color with various hair textures. In 2013 she developed K2 Beauty™, a line of professional hair care products designed to augment the Kimble Beauty™ brand.
Kim’s hairstyles and innovative techniques have been featured in the pages of “Vanity Fair”, “Allure” and “Vogue”, and she has worked with fashion photographers such as Patrick Demarchelier, David LaChapelle, Gilles Bensimon, Mario Testino, and Annie Leibovitz. Her work has also appeared in national ad campaigns for brands like Pepsi, Neutrogena, Nike, CoverGirl, McDonald’s and L’Oreal. In addition to her work behind the scenes, Kim has appeared in front of the camera as a hair expert on numerous television shows, including “Oprah”, “Steve Harvey”, “Ricki Lake”, “Tabatha’s Salon Takeover, How Do I Look?” and “Shear Genius”. She is a Pantene Global Ambassador and her reality show, “LA Hair”, launched its fourth season on WEtv in 2015.
