The 53rd Annual Holy Convocation of the California Southwest Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ (COGIC) will convene on Monday, June 13, through Friday, June 17, at the 88th Street Temple COGIC, 8825 South Vermont Avenue in Los Angeles.
Bishop B. R. Benbow is the Jurisdictional Prelate, Mother Joan Walker is Supervisor of Women, Superintendent Frank Jones and Superintendent Noble Henson are Administrative Assistants, and Elder Anthony L. Williams is the host pastor.
“We are expecting a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit where souls will be saved, delivered and set free from the bondage of sin. Everyone is invited to attend these anointed services that will impact our lives with the spirit of the Living God. Come and be blessed,” said a spokesperson.
The Theme for the Holy Convocation is ‘God’s Church, God’s People, God’s Agenda’ based on Matthew 16:18, Luke 4:18 and Micah 6:8. All services begin at 6:30 p.m., with an Institute Hour under the direction of Dr. Hillrie Murphy and District Missionary Lula Clark. The evening worship service starts nightly at 8 p.m.
The Convocation opens Monday night with a gospel musical directed by Dr. Iris Stevenson and Evangelist Lillie Smarr. On Tuesday, Pastor Leroy Ramsey will preach and on Wednesday, Pastor Anthony Williams will speak. Bishop Benbow will deliver the official address on Friday night.
Women’s Day will be observed on Thursday starting with Morning Glory Prayer at 10 a.m. The Institute Hour will be held at 6:30 p.m., and the worship service starts at 7:30 p.m., with Supervisor Walker bringing the Word of Life.
