Crenshaw and Dorsey take care of business in the Coliseum League. Fairfax and Hamilton look to challenge Venice in the Western League.

CRENSHAW IS VICTORIOUS ON HOMECOMING
The West Adams Panthers walked into Crenshaw High School Friday night, and were welcomed to the Coliseum league with a performance by the choir, the band and then a 46-7 blowout by the football team. There were cougars of old and new, along with Councilman Bernard Parks on hand, for the homecoming victory and festivities.
The Panthers appeared to be ready for this game, complete with all the football hype and pre game cheers. The Cougars were in their normal pre-game demeanor, making sure not to look past the Panthers, in their haste to get to Dorsey in game 10. Crenshaw would begin by holding true to their newest tradition in which De’Anthony Thomas would score the first touchdown. The game would then become a complete team performance by the Cougars, which would prove to be a little too much for the Panthers. There were big hits on defense that could be heard in the stands and big plays on offense scoring a total of 46 points.
Crenshaw appears to be back in sync and ready to play against the city’s finest. This week they will travel down the street to Manual Arts and play a night game against the Toilers, which is a first in the history of the two teams. Manual Arts is rebuilding and have not yet established themselves as a force to be reckoned with. They are well coached but still have a long way to go.
In other action around the city many games had lopsided scores this week. Things will settle down as teams get deeper into league play, and the race for league titles becomes more evident. In the Marine league look for Carson, Narbonne and San Pedro to try to decide a champion without a coin toss. In the Western league Fairfax is on top but Venice and last years Invitational Champion, Hamilton, are going to be right in the hunt. Eastern league shows Garfield in front but Jordan trying to beat them out for the title even though they already lost to Garfield in the clash of the Bulldogs.
CULVER CITY DOMINATES MORNINGSIDE 44-0
Coach Lafayette Fletcher’s Morningside Monarch team is very young and inexperienced at the varsity level this year. They are a gutsy squad that is willing to play from goal line to goal line no matter what the score, nor who the opponent.
Thursday night, in a game against Culver City, the Monarchs inexperience would show and the Centaurs would begin scoring with a 26-yard touchdown run by Zakee Johnson and would continue to score at will against the Morningside. Quarterback Jordan Arrington would go 6 of 9 for 128 yards and two touchdowns, and would only play the first half. This victory was needed as a confidence builder for Culver City after losing 50-7 in the previous game to Crenshaw.
Culver City is one of the better teams in the Ocean league, but they will have their work cut out for them this week when they face Inglewood, which was victorious over Santa Monica 28-7 this past week. This game may be very important in the race for the Ocean league title but both teams must still face Beverly Hills.
FARMER IS RISING OUT OF THE SHADOW
In a victory Saturday night Serra’s George Farmer moved another step forward in his attempt to be compared with last years senior standout Robert Woods, now at USC. In a game that appeared an even match at the start, Serra quarterback Conner Preston would have an excellent outing throwing 20 of 27 for 321 yards and three touchdowns. Farmer would have eight catches for 210 yards and three touchdowns on the night, helping Serra to a 41-14 victory and giving him a total of 618 yards and eight touchdowns for the season. Serra now goes to 6-0 and appears to be in control of their own destiny. This week they will host St Paul Friday at 7:00pm.
