Jestine Hurst and the Allensworth Adventure

In the early  70’s Jestine Hurst undertook a project that has proven to be beneficial to the community, the Luther Mae E. Adams Cancer Fund, I.B.P.O.E.  of W. Elks, as well as the Allensworth Historical Park, Allensworth, California.

It was in the early 70’s when Mrs. Hurst began arranging planned bus trips to Allensworth in May for the yearly Jubilee Celebration.

Because of Mrs. Hurst’s dedication and commitment and being so instrumental in soliciting memberships for the Allensworth facility, this year, she was honored on May 9, a Queen for the Day by Brother and Sister Smith of Fremont, California.

So many people have been blessed by the Allensworth trips, people of all ages and walks of life. So much effort is put forth to guarantee the trip to be successful and it is always educational.

Jestine Hurst, a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, 4911 W. 59th St., pastor Virgil Jones, is most grateful to her church family for its devoted support to this project all through the years. Mrs. Hurst is a dedicated hard working lady who willingly serves as a background person.

She and her committee work to be sure that each person who goes on the Allensworth trip returns time and again because they thoroughly enjoy this historical outing.Â
