Speed City

The Speed City Track Club in Carson made noise at the National Junior Olympic Track & Field championships with their midget boys (11-12 year old) 4 x 800m relay team smashing the national record by almost six seconds. Brenden Scott, Chris Wilcox, Jayson Levias and Jerone Jackson blew away the field with a time of 9:19.93, breaking the old national record of 9:25.90 set in 2006.

The boys, posing with Olympic gold medalist Dan O’Brien and head coach Cliff School, won the meet nearly 13 seconds ahead of their nearest competitor (9:32.48 – Track Houston). In total, Speed City placed in six events, adding to the eight medals the club won last year,
