I’m making a special request a little early for all of my people. You may remember a couple of weeks ago I said that we should and can be our own best predictors of what the future is going to hold for us as a people. We all saw every media outlet, pundit and prognosticator get it wrong about damn near everything they predicted, so let’s speak for ourselves, think for ourselves and get it right in 2025.
I’m forecasting that 2025 will be a historic year for Black people in this nation, and I’m believing that in 2025, we will make some major movement as a people. No, I’m not naive nor am I one of those “name it and claim it” people. I’m just not one to be afraid of the space between my dreams and my reality.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m a real believer in God. I believe with all my mine heart, body and soul because I’m a living witness of the power of my faith. I also believe that God doesn’t always give us what we want but what we need. I truly believe what we need is to make a commitment to ourselves, our community, our family, and our friends.
Let’s not get caught up in all of this white-on-white crime that we’re going to see starting on January 20, 2025. Let’s not confuse their issues with our concerns and please let’s not allow them to use language, props and people (the negro), to larceny us up against one another, cause it’s coming y’all.
They are going to savage one another like we’ve never seen before. We’re going to be able to witness in real time the Hatfields versus the McCoys. We just need to remember who we are and what we are as a people. This is how we minimize ourselves from being collateral damage in the middle of American insanity.
As I said, some of us are going to take a hit. There are always some casualties in the midst of madness. What we must do as a people is to be cognizant of this and work as hard as we can not to become victims of friendly fire. And to all of my American flag lapel pin-wearing brothers and sisters, good luck to y’all. I only hope your oppressor sees your lapel pin before your pigment.
Let’s make a Black New year’s resolution. Have you ever looked up what it really means to make a resolution? Did you know that it’s a firm commitment? Let me say that again – a firm commitment to change a behavior or a decision made by an individual, group or organization to address a specific issue, a decision made in response to a problem or challenge, requiring evaluation of multiple options.
Black people, let’s make a firm commitment to one another. Let’s commit to changing our behavior towards one another. Let’s change the way we see self, society, America, and the world, and we ain’t gotta be mad, let’s just be matter of fact. Let’s be ready to respond to any and all of America’s challenges that will require us to have a Black evaluation and let’s then develop multiple Black options.
Black people, I see 2025 as a Kairos time in our Black history. For those of you asking what’s Kairos time, Kairos means the time is right, the right time, season, and or opportunity. It refers to the idea of a time when conditions are ideal for a crucial action or the opportune moment to say or do something, and if I may add, something beautiful and Black.
For all my dear brothers and sisters that are only focusing on what they believe will be dark days in 2025, I say to you in the words of Rev. Dr Martin Luther King Jr., “It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light. The darkest places in hell are reserved for those who maintain their neutrality in times of moral crisis. I find hope in the darkest of days and focus on the brightest.”
Black people, lets pick a side. I’m going to focus on the brightest. So, what’s your new year’s resolution?
