Mayor Eric Perrodin honors gospel great J Moss at the 2007 Gospel Concert |
The City of Compton presents the 3rd Annual Gospel Concert on September 6 at the Compton Par 3 Golf Course. The singing and praising will kick off at 11:00 a.m., and last until 5 p.m.
Compton Mayor Eric J. Perrodin will host this family oriented event, with the master of ceremonies duties going to KJLH’s Aundrae Russell and gospel comedian Broderick E. Rice.
The goal of this event is to send praises of healing, restoration and rebirth for the city. Be prepared for a very large crowd to be on hand to support this very positive and uplifting event.
Last year’s Gospel Concert was a success and highlighted the many positives about the City of Compton.
“This is something opposite than what we are used to hearing about Compton,” Bishop Todd Ervin said to the Sentinel at last year’s concert. “There are great people in Compton, there are still great citizens here that love Compton and want to see a better Compton come forth. Mayor Perrodin made a comment one time that people only come to Compton when something negative happens, and I want to be here when something positive happens.”
Mayor Perrodin’s efforts to show the positive side of Compton are paying off, as he is bringing the city together. Compton recently celebrated their 120th birthday with a festive event at City Hall
This event will feature performances by The Starlights, The Williams Brothers, Marvin Sapp, Donald Lawrence, and the Clark Sisters.
Do not worry about bringing food or beverages (which are not allowed), there will be plenty of vendors serving delicious cuisines and treats.
Tickets for the event start as low as $10 for lawn seats, $20 for general admission, and $40 for VIP seats. Tickets can be purchased at Ticketmaster, (213) 480-3232, www.ticketmaster.com; V.I.P. Records; Compton, Long Beach and L.A. Word of Life Book Store, Gardena Citizen of Zion MBC, and the Compton City Hall/City Clerk’s Office.
