This Sunday, Nov. 17, UrbanPromise Los Angeles (UPLA) will host their Hope for the Future 5th Annual Fundraising Event at Pepperdine University from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Their vision, Reach a child. Raise a leader. Restore Community. has created opportunities to empower urban youth to be leaders and change agents in their communities.
UPLA is a nonprofit organization founded in 2019, by husband-and-wife Dionté and Meg Grey. UPLA provides free after school and summer camp programs throughout the year for kindergarten-8th grade students, leadership development and college preparation to 9th-12th grade students, and mentorship and internship opportunities to college students.

Canoga Park students receive academic tutoring, support with reading and literacy, participate in arts and crafts, Bible (optional), STEM, and recreational activities at the UPLA facility located at the River of the Valley.
The all-ages event will highlight their mission to support underserved youth throughout Los Angeles. Currently UPLA is in the San Fernando Valley, specifically Canoga Park, and are working to expand their programs to other neighborhoods in L.A. The organization is seeking to address the issues of educational inequality, youth unemployment, and the lack of access to higher education for Black and Brown students. In five years, 100% of their teens graduated on time and received college acceptance, as well as served 300+ youth served through their programs.
The Hope for the Future 5th Annual Fundraiser will be held at the Pepperdine Caruso School of Law. The cost per person to attend is $30.00, and UPLA donors/ supporters can receive a free ticket by using promo code PROMISEPARTNER to waive the cost of the ticket.
