WHAT: The journey of collegiate students of color in highly selective institutions is distinctly understood, and affirmed by their alumni. For most, an elite education has long served as a critical gateway to economic opportunity, power and parity–yet equitable career success for Blacks remains challenging, in spite of globalization, and despite trending diversity initiatives. Importantly, prevailing gaps are not due to being a “first-generation college-going population” (this is a stereotyped falsehood), but exist because racism has been institutionalized throughout educational sectors and professions. Join USC Black Alumni, Faculty and Community Supporters for this annual day of dialogue regarding Black preparation, excellence and success in the 21st century. Meet involved alumni who serve as mentors, faculty who serve as advocates, corporate and community experts. Trade business cards, exchange great ideas, broaden networks. Learn how to become confidently empowered with the advocacy, experiences and strategies of your Black Trojan Family. The Summit III: R.I.S.E. is co-hosted by USC BAA and BAAYP (BAA Young Professionals).
