Greater Los Angeles African American Chamber of Commerce (GLAAACC) will host the 2017 Small Business Entrepreneur Conference on Wednesday, November 1, from 8:00 A.M to 3:00 P.M. at the LA Hotel Downtown, 333 South Figueroa Street, Los Angeles. The Conference will have panel discussions on the benefits of certification, best financial record keeping methods, building networks and alliances, access to capital and marketing strategies.

The conference will assist businesses to position themselves for contracts with the many upcoming capital projects in and around greater Los Angeles. This includes the 2028 Olympics, the Lucas Museum, the LA Football Cub, the Inglewood Stadium, The Reef, Measure H and HH, Metro and LAX construction projects. Conference attendees can also participate in one-on-one meetings with corporate and government buyers.

“There are so many projects taking place in the urban Los Angeles area right now,” said GLAAACC President Angela Gibson-Shaw.

“GLAAACC has partnered with Southern California Edison to prepare small businesses to be ready to take advantage of the opportunities.”

GLAAACC Chairman Gene Hale will deliver the keynote address for the 2017 Small Business Entrepreneur Conference. Hale is the founder and CEO of G & C Corporation, a fortune 100 construction equipment leasing company based in Gardena.

Over the course of three decades, Hale’s business acumen and experience has made him a highly sought after resource for government agencies and large corporations. He was appointed by President Obama to the President’s Export Council (PEC). President George W. Bush selected him to be on the President’s Board of Advisors on Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Hale’s more recent appointments made by Governor Jerry Brown, Mayor Eric Garcetti and Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas include the Governor’s International Trade and Investment Advisory Board, President of the Mayors Export Council and Los Angeles County Small Business Commission, respectively.

Hale will share some of his experiences and winning contract strategies with conference attendees during his presentation. Other conference speakers include Jan Perry, Los Angeles Economic and Workforce Development General Manager and Tarrance Frierson, Principal Manager Supplier Diversity and Development for Southern California Edison.
